One of the best ways to spend a lazy day in Appledore is to simply browse the many Appledore Galleries and coffee shops. Appledore has a very strong Artisan community with fantastically talented craftsmen and artists – what better way to appreciate this charming Village.

We have produced a list below of a number of the Appledore galleries to help you plan your visit.

Sea Green of Appledore

Based on recycling, Sea Green is a small workshop/gallery in the heart of Appledore run by Josie Ross. Josie takes things that no longer have a use and give them a new lease of life so that they are wanted again. Knives and forks for coat hooks, Cracked china into Mosaic mirrors, old dark furniture into lovingly restored and painted shabby chic pieces, the height of fashion right now. Her Gallery is a delight and one of the best Appledore galleries – if you like her work you can even join one of her workshops to start creating yourself.

Raspberry Rings

Jennie Lamb runs Raspberry Rings in Appledore where she hand crafts glass beads from glass rods. Visitors can come and watch her melt glass and browse her beads and jewellery. The shop has a selection of different size beads for sale from the Pandora style, silver riveted beads to larger glass pendants all ready to wear.

Jennie also gives taster sessions which need to be pre booked so visitors can have a go at making a bead themselves.

The Appledore Crafts Company

The Appledore Crafts Company is one of the leading contemporary craft galleries in the South West and is based in the heart of Appledore. The gallery’s shop is run by a co-operative of local designer-makers exhibiting and selling their own original work as well as that of selected associate members.

Members of The Appledore Crafts Company produce a wide range of work including metal sculpture, studio pottery, baskets, original prints, glass, leather, ceramics, textiles, hand-made books, furniture and jewellery.

In addition to the regular display of contemporary craft, The Appledore Crafts Company holds two annual exhibitions. One in June showcasing the work of the members, and another in the autumn featuring a well-known local North Devon artist.
